Owls and certain other creatures of the night belong to the theological category of Supernatural Beings—they typify demons with their haunting voices. Their noise points to the wailing of demons and lost souls condemned to eternal darkness. Evil spirits do their work at night as do many beasts of prey (WJE 11:70, 97, 102, 107, 127, 129). Satan is also represented by creatures such as cats, lions, tigers, and crocodiles. Cats play with their prey, giving it false hopes of escape, before finally devouring it. Lions, tigers, and crocodiles strike terror into the heart of the defenseless.
